Day 4: Sweet Like Honey | Kindness

Updated: Jun 20

June 19

“Be kind and helpful to one another, tender-hearted [compassionate, understanding], forgiving one another [readily and freely], just as God in Christ also forgave you.” –Ephesians 4:32, AMP

Kindness is not just about being “nice”. It’s about reflecting the character of God through gentle, thoughtful action. You’re the hands and feet of Jesus. It’s compassion in motion. At Xtreme Bible Camps, kindness has the power to shift atmospheres and soften even the hardest hearts.

Think about the excitement, noise, and energy that surrounds Xtreme Bible Camp. It’s easy to become tired or short-tempered. It’s in these very moments, the chaos, the hiccups, the interruptions, that kindness becomes our most powerful tool. When you patiently tie a child’s shoe, offer a calm word after a meltdown, or share supplies without complaint, you’re not just “being helpful”; you’re living the Gospel.

Kindness is sweet like honey, offering comfort and connection. Jesus was always moved by compassion, pausing for the one, whether it was a child, a woman at a well, or a blind man by the road. That same Spirit lives in you. Your kindness might be the very thing that helps a child feel safe enough to ask questions about Jesus. It might be the spark that keeps a new volunteer coming back.

Kindness is contagious. It multiplies and spreads. And in a world that often glorifies sarcasm, aggression, and fast paces, your kindness will stand out as a witness to God’s love.

Reflect & Journal

Who has been an example of Christlike kindness in your life? Write about a time someone’s kindness shifted your mood, encouraged your heart, or reminded you that you mattered. How can you reflect that same kindness at XBC to both kids and fellow volunteers?

Challenge

Be intentionally kind in a small, meaningful way. Compliment a child’s creativity. Encourage a discouraged teammate. Let someone else go first. Speak life into a child who is struggling. Look for the “one” who may feel invisible—and show them they’re seen.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, You are the perfect example of kindness, gentle, patience, and always aware of those in need. Teach us to slow down and see others the way You do. Soften our hearts to respond with compassion, not just convenience. Use our hands, our voices, and our time to reflect Your sweet kindness to every child and team member we encounter today. Let our actions be a living example of the love You freely give. In Your name, Amen.

Afternoon Encouragement

Kindness doesn’t have to be loud to be powerful. It’s in the quiet moments like offering a smile, encouraging a teammate, or sitting with a child who feels left out. These small, intentional acts shine bright in a busy space like Xtreme Bible Camps.

Your kindness is a reflection of Jesus. Even when it’s tough, even when energy runs low, when you respond with gentleness and compassion, you become a safe place for others.

Prayer Focus

Ask God to keep your heart soft and your spirit alert to the needs of others. Pray that your words and actions would carry the sweetness of Christ’s love.

You are making a difference with every act of kindness; you are planting seeds that will grow.
